Mission: Connecting Consultants to the Libraries
Motto: Experts for Excellence
The Role of OLC
OLC accepts eligible members and actively promotes their consultation services within the library and the LIS profession. We encourage our members' active participation and contributions towards our mission of connecting consultants to libraries and fostering excellence in the Library and Information Science field. Our web-based systems and protocols enable us to monitor the progress of consultation services daily.
Need & Scope
The field of Library and Information Science (LIS) is continually evolving due to the rapid growth of knowledge and advancements in technology. As a result, the skills gained through LIS education may not always meet the complex and changing needs of the profession. The dynamic nature of the LIS field often requires support from experts with specialised knowledge.
Many LIS professionals and consultants are well-equipped to assist libraries and LIS professionals. The Organisation of Library Consultants (OLC) aims to bridge the gap between these experts and the institutions or individuals who need their services. By bringing together consultants and service providers with diverse expertise, OLC offers a centralised platform where libraries and LIS professionals can easily identify and connect with the appropriate support.
